Newborn Photographer Chico Ca - Preparing for your home newborn session
Home newborn sessions are my favorite for so many reasons. Mainly because it’s convenient for you. It’s the spaces you raise your little ones. Homes come in all shapes and sizes. Decoration styles vary and that's the beauty of shooting in different people's homes. Every space is new. It has your personal touches throughout which makes these sessions highly personalized from the start.
If you’re feeling intimidated by having someone photograph your family in your home, I promise to make you comfortable and at ease during the whole process. Pinterest also has a way of intimidating new moms by making them think they have to have the perfect decor and nursery set up. Rest assured that that is not the perfect recipe for amazing photos!! What matters most is the people who are in the photos!!
Outfit Recommendations for Home Newborn Photos
Whole Family - We suggest wearing light neutral colors on the whole family. Avoid loud prints or colors. Less is more and simplicity is better.
For Baby - I suggest having baby in a plain white onesie or just in a diaper at the start of the session. We can always do other photos in a different outfit too. Babies don't like having clothes changed so the less changing the better! Textured knit or linen blankets are highly recommended.
For Mom - I recommend wearing what is most comfortable. Often a maxi dress that fit during pregnancy works well as your body is in a season of healing. Knit shawls or sweater cardigans that wrap around your shoulders work really well to add texture, and also flatter your upper arm area if desired.
For Dad - Solid, neutral or button up sweater with either basic jeans or dress pants.
